Join the United Methodist Association of Communicators

All United Methodist communicators can benefit from the relationships developed through the United Methodist Association of Communicators (UMAC), whether serving on staff at a general agency, district, or conference; working for a related institution or ministry; working or volunteering at a local church, volunteering time on a conference commission or attending school.

Within our network we strive to share ideas, learn new ways of communicating, and study best practices. We also aim to stay on top of new technologies and trends. Most importantly, we develop relationships and connections that strengthen your ministry. Through annual gatherings, UMAC members receive support and encouragement, regardless of the context of their individual ministries.

Membership is based on the calendar year, January-December. Membership dues are not pro-rated, but may be paid any time throughout the year for that calendar year.

Membership Options

Our membership rates have changed. In some cases, the cost has increased, but in most cases your membership now includes some free entries into our annual contest, a $50 value per contest entry! All memberships are for 365 days from payment.

  • Agency Level (Individuals) — Communicators who work within or in concert with one of The United Methodist Church general agencies. This level works best for four members or fewer from the same agency. This level includes as many as two annual contest entries. Cost is $150.
  • Agency Level (Group Membership) — Communicators who work within or in concert with one of The United Methodist Church general agencies. This level works best for five members or more from the same agency. As many as six contest entries are included in this membership price. The cost is $600.
  • Conference Communicators (Individuals) — A professional communicator who either works for an annual conference or jurisdiction. This level is best for three or fewer members from a conference. This level includes as many as two annual contest entries. The cost is $150.
  • Conference Communicators (Group Membership) — A group of four or more professional communicators who works either for an annual conference or jurisdiction. This level is best for four or more members from a conference. The membership fee includes as many as six annual contest entries. The cost is $400.
  • Affiliate Member (Individuals) — This category is open to groups of people working for single vendors, contractors, event sponsors and non-United Methodist affiliated organizations. This level works best for organizations with two or fewer members and includes as many as two annual contest entries. The cost is $150.
  • Affiliate Member (Group Membership) — This category is open to groups of people working for single vendors, contractors, event sponsors and non-United Methodist affiliated organizations. This level works best for organizations with three or more members and includes as many as six annual contest entries. The cost is $350.
  • Students/Volunteers/Retirees/Local Church Memberships — Open to students, volunteers (conference, agencies or local churches), retired communicators or local churches’ paid or volunteer staff. Annual contest entries are an additional charge. The cost is $50 per person.
