The Helping Hands Award of Excellence recognizes any person working as an employee or volunteer in communications in any United Methodist local church, district, annual conference, jurisdiction, general church board or agency, foundation, or related institution who are committed to best practices in communications and excellence in service to the United Methodist Church as they further the witness of Jesus Christ at home and around the world.

An awardee should possess a commitment to making disciples using the technology at hand, creativity, and perseverance in the faith.

A candidate must:

1.    Give faithful service to the church by serving in a leadership position,
2.    Have helped others in their Christian walk,
3.    Have demonstrated a desire to serve with excellence in the area of communication,
4.    Have developed partnerships and relationships to enhance their communications ministry.

This can include mentoring relationships and/or collaborative relationships with other churches in the connection.

Contribution
A gift of $150 enables someone to receive the Helping Hands Award of Excellence. The gift underwrites costs associated with the award; the balance is used to support the world-wide ministries of the United Methodist Association of Communicators in providing opportunities for excellence in communications to volunteers and paid staff who serve in the Central Conferences of The United Methodist Church. The gift may come from any individual, a local church, a United Methodist Church agency, or organization.

Recognition
The recipient of the Helping Hands Award of Excellence will receive an embossed plaque.

We urge you to provide a suitable ceremony for the presentation of the award. Award recipients will also be mentioned at the UMAC Annual Meeting.
