The 2019 United Methodist Association of Communicators annual gathering kicked off with the first-ever school for local church communicators. More than 20 communicators and pastors from the St. Louis area gathered for lunch and for sessions on Facebook Live, marketing automation and writing engaging stories. Thank you to all who attended!

In the evening leadership team chair Mark Doyal welcomed attendees, especially the 34 first-time UMAC attendees and Helping Hands scholarship recipient Deaconess Gladys P. Mangiduyos, United Methodist News Service correspondent from the Philippines. He thanked Missouri Conference Editor Fred Koenig for his great help in organizing our St. Louis event, especially ahead of the historic special session of the United Methodist General Conference. The Rev. Kim Jenne, director of connectional ministries for the Missouri Annual Conference, led our opening worship.

“I still believe at the very core of myself that despite our tendency to blow it,” she said, “time and time again, that we are a Christian Community infused by the Holy Spirit.”

UMAC members then spent time browsing the inspiring work submitted by members for Friday’s awards celebration while enjoying one another’s company and hors d’oeuvres at the opening reception and gallery.
A jam-packed Friday begins at 7:30 with Breakfast in the Know hearing from some general church agencies. See the rest of the days schedule on our website at umcommunicators.org and at umac2019.sched.com. You can also use the Sched app and search for UMAC 2019.
